My management principles
The list below is the general management principles I have discovered during my career:
  1. Always have a plan B
  2. Use a belt and kruisbande (make double sure) of everything
  3. When planning use the 5 x W ( who must do what when and where and what thereafter)
  4. Planning principle: Use the 5 x P (Proper planning prevent poor performance)
  5. Feedback is the breakfast of a champion - feedback is important
  6. Interventions is a good way to improve where you find a peoples problem
  7. Debriefs is the way to enhance future performance
  8. Never leave a lion in the long grass - it will wait for you when you do not expect it
  9. A plan is a basis for change
  10. Time spent on a recce is time not wasted
  11. If something go wrong ask what has changed - if you can find that answer you can fix the problem
  12. Learn from the juniors - talk to them and they will tell a lot of your business
  13. Try and plan 3 levels down - then you will know what will happen most probably
  14. Keep a black book where you can "note" what will go wrong so that you can have a alternative plan ready to implement
  15. Do not let emotions influence you - what is the facts ad then act
  16. A coin has two sides - every story has two sides -mine and yours
  17. Use the system of warning orders - train your people in it
  18. Never do two important events at the same time - you will lose both
  19. People do tasks - it is not wise to be too much task orientated as it is wise not to be to people orientated
  20. Build on a persons strong points
